Established in 2024 with funding from NSW Health, administered by the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Establishing a globally recognised collaborative network that accelerates the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal technologies.
What is NAT-Net?
NAT-Net drives groundbreaking discoveries in medicine and health through human-relevant technologies that reduce animal use in research, diagnostics, prognostics, and therapies and promote alternative methods.
Vision
Three Pillars
NAT-Net serves as a hub for people and organisations working with, or interested in, non-animal approaches. NAT-Net's activities are structured around three pillars that work together to create impact:
Research Pillar
Funding and coordinating NSW-led collaborative complex in-vitro model (CiVM) research projects that pioneer non-animal, human-relevant approaches.
Infrastructure Pillar
Developing shared platforms and services that underpin the wider use of non-animal models.
Regulatory Pillar
Working with national regulatory agencies to identify evidence needs, support validation studies and enable the use of NAMs in real-world regulatory submissions.
How NAT-Net Creates Impact

Scientific Excellence
Advancing science by using human cells, tissue and data to improve the translation from discovery to patient benefit.
Advancing world-class, human-relevant science that delivers more predictive and patient-focused research outcomes.

Collaboration
Bringing together researchers, industry and regulators to accelerate innovation through shared capability and knowledge exchange.

Ethical Progress
Advancing ethical, non-animal research by enabling regulatory acceptance and responsible adoption of NAMs.
Supporting regulatory confidence in new approach methodologies (NAMs) to reduce reliance on animal models.

Participate in NAT-Net
NAT-Net is a growing, open network committed to advancing non-animal technologies in medical research. Participation is free and open to anyone with an interest in shaping the future of human-relevant science.
By completing a short survey, you can share your perspectives, help guide the network’s direction, and become part of the NAT-Net community.
Survey participants will also receive updates and future newsletters as the network grows.
